College Planning

Millard West High School has selected Naviance Family Connection to assist us and our students in managing the college and career planning process. Naviance Family Connection is a comprehensive website that students and parents can use as a tool in planning for their future. The Guidance Office will post information of interest such as our newsletter, SteppingStones, to students as well as email information through Family Connection. We are pleased to make this resource available to our students. Registration code information for students and parents can be obtained by contacting the Guidance Office.

College Lookup

This research tool provides comprehensive information on thousands of colleges. In addition to general and admissions information, further data is presented on academics, cost and financial aid, student body characteristics, extracurricular and athletic programs. A link to each college’s website is provided.

College Search

Enter criteria such as size, location, cost, availability of specific majors or athletic programs, and students can produce a list of colleges that meet their criteria.

This feature provides links to other useful websites relating to college information, financial aid, test preparation, NCAA eligibility, etc.

The planning guide is an excellent tool for career planning, college selection, scholarships and financial aid information. This Post-Secondary guide is updated yearly and is made available to all juniors and seniors.

University of Nebraska Admission Standards

Here is a detailed explanation of what it takes to be admitted to UNO, UNL, and UNK. Included in this page are the core course equivalencies for every high school in Nebraska.

EducationQuest

This is the best local site for college planning. EducationQuest covers all the bases, from how to write a resume, to how to figure out the financial aid process. They are the experts in financial aid, and all college bound students in Nebraska should check their web site... and go visit them at Rockbrook Village. Their help is free!

KnowHow2Go Nebraska

EducationQuest Foundation is proud to sponsor the national KnowHow2GO college-access campaign in Nebraska. This campaign was developed by the American Council on Education, Lumina Foundation for Education and the Ad Council to inform 8th-10th graders about four steps they need to take to make college a reality.

Making It Count - College Financial Planning

The new Making College Financial Planning Count online tool from Monster and Bank of America is an interactive overview of the entire college financial planning process and is provided at no cost.

Art Institutes International

Gives information on the network of 33 Art Institutes located throughout North America, specializing in the creative and applied arts. Degree and non-degree programs are offered in design, media arts, fashion, and the culinary arts.

Black Excel

This site has great college information for African American students.

College Board Online

Register here for the SAT. This gigantic web site is full of all kinds of college planning information, including a college and scholarship search program, sample SAT and PSAT questions, how to find the right school for you, and financial aid and scholarship information. It even provides detailed information about SAT II Tests and helps you figure out, for example, which Math test you should take.

CampusTours.com

This site provides prospective students with a visual tour of hundreds of college campuses. It is a great way to get a feel for the campus that might be too far away for a weekend drive.

NCAA

All Division I & II student athletes must register with the NCAA Initial Eligibility Clearinghouse.

Study Abroad

If you are at all interested in studying abroad, this site has lots of helpful information and links to dozens of programs. It is a comprehensive directory of study abroad programs, summer study abroad, internship, service learning and volunteer abroad programs, and intensive language programs.
